Booking questions

Frequently asked questions

Which Nungwi tour is best value?

The sunset dhow cruise, from around US$14, is the best value on the island. For a big day out, the small-group Mnemba dolphin and snorkel trip from Kendwa (around US$55) has the strongest reviews of any boat trip in the north.

Do tours pick up from Nungwi and Kendwa hotels?

Most do. Boat trips from the north coast either leave from the beach or include pickup; Stone Town, spice and Jozani tours usually offer pickup from northern hotels, sometimes for a supplement. Check the pickup options on each listing before you book.

Are park and conservation fees included?

It varies. The Mnemba conservation fee, Jozani park fees and the Prison Island tortoise sanctuary fee are sometimes included and sometimes paid on the day. Each listing says which — read it before you confirm.

Can I book a private tour?

Yes. Several options, including the Jozani–spice farm–Stone Town day and the airport transfer, are private by default, and many group trips offer a private upgrade.

Can I cancel if the weather turns?

Most listings offer free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start, and operators usually reschedule or refund if they cancel a boat trip for sea conditions.
